From time to time, WPT receives a request from an OEM for a product that does not fall within the specifications of our standard product. Such was the case when we were approached by a crane manufacturer who was in the market for a specific style of hoist for a small marine application. This OEM made several inquiries throughout the industry for special features such as a custom coating and precision braking capabilities. No other winch and hoist manufacturer was either willing or capable to deliver these features in in the lifting range required.
After an exhaustive search, the OEM turned to WPT Power. We sat down with the crane manufacturer’s engineers and walked through their design concept to get a better idea of the application. Once WPT understood the mechanical and structural demands of the application, we were able to modify an existing hoist model to suit their needs.
