Why CONEXPO Matters
Knowing CONEXPO’s beginnings and walking through the show today, it’s hard not to think about how far this event has come. It started 117 years ago in 1909 as a small “Road Show” at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. As part of the American Road Builders Association’s (ARBA) convention, 40 manufacturers packed into 40,000 square feet, displaying steam-powered rollers, cranes, scaled models, and other types of machinery. Today, that forerunner is now the largest construction tradeshow in North America with more than 2,000 exhibitors of construction equipment and products. CONEXPO’s evolution has mirrored the historic growth of the concrete, aggregates, and construction industries.
As a participant, WPT Power appreciates that history and has scaled its product lines to meet the growing, diverse needs of the show. Simply, if it is epoch-making for the industry, it is at CONEXPO-CON/AGG.
What Happens at CONEXPO-CON/AGG?
CONEXPO has enormous global appeal and has grown into a massive 2.9-million-square-foot showcase. That is approximately 37 average soccer fields or just over 50 football fields. It is a premier event that connects professionals across the primary construction sectors and is a valuable resource for developing connections in this industry. Whether you are a contractor, dealer, or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), this once-every-three-year schedule is where you can see the newest equipment, technology advancements, products, and services all in one place. As a manufacturer who will be exhibiting on-site, we believe CONEXPO-CON/AGG is simply a must, an event you don’t miss. WPT will showcase its latest product offerings to keep your operations competitive in the industry.
The show is a partnership with NRMCA, NSSGA, and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). This group demonstrates its commitment to the construction community by helping construction professionals elevate their operations and business to the next level with demonstrations, education, connections, and, of course, the newest equipment and products.
Who is the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM)?
AEM is the managing organization that makes so much of this experience possible. They represent more than 1,000 companies across North America and abroad, covering over 200 product lines in agriculture and construction-related sectors. The impact of the equipment manufacturing industry is huge. It supports 2.3 million U.S. jobs and contributes around $316 billion to the economy each year. That influence is important and is present everywhere throughout the show.
