WPT Power Corporation is a leading global manufacturer of mechanical power transmission equipment. Founded by three partners as a privately owned engineering and manufacturing company in 1992, WPT primarily provided pneumatic clutches and brakes for the Oil & Gas industry. It has grown to offer a wide range of product lines and services for multiple industries. These include Agriculture, Dynamometer, Forestry, Marine, Metal Forming, Mining, Road Building, Paper/Converting, and Steel industries worldwide.
WPT Power began developing a network of experienced distributors in 1993. This select group provides technical, and product application assistance to best serve our customers. The first US distributor to sign was Gregory Rig Service in Odessa, Texas. A few years later, in 1996, Canada, Japan, Africa, and the United Kingdom became the first international distributor locations. Presently, there are over 40 distributors worldwide and in North America. WPT enjoys having established, long-term relationships with these partners. With this increase, growth developed, which led to the expansion of our physical operations as well. WPT made additions to its home office in 2007 and now operates a 29,000 square foot facility in Wichita Falls, Texas, with 35 nonunion employees. Expansions have also been made to our facility in Shanghai, increasing its size to 53,000 square feet.
Development from the research of new technologies has led to several patents starting in 1993. The first of these products was the Power Grip Clutch. Engineering did not rest there and has continuously worked to enhance our products for conventional applications. They are also developing new products for our growing base of customers. This expansion brought about the formation of a Research and Development department in 2015. WPT’s R&D department has developed several pending patent products and recently was granted patents for our Python Hydraulic Clutch Control.
