WPT Power debuts Pilotless™ Mechanical Power Take-off at TCI Expo.

WPT Power Corporation has introduced the Pilotless™ Mechanical PTO, expanding its power take-off portfolio with a design engineered to address evolving engine integration challenges. The product debuted in November at the 2015 Tree Care Industry Expo in Pittsburgh, PA.

As Tier 4 emissions standards continue to drive tighter packaging constraints and increased system complexity, pilot bearing fitment has become a critical limitation in traditional PTO designs. The Pilotless™ Mechanical PTO eliminates the need for a pilot bearing, enabling greater installation flexibility and increasing side-load capacity by up to 74% compared to previous-generation mechanical PTOs.

By eliminating the need for a pilot bearing, the WPT Pilotless™ Mechanical PTO reduces component variability, streamlines inventory requirements, and minimizes installation complexity. The result is improved equipment uptime, reduced maintenance intervals, and increased engine longevity.

“The previous standard in mechanical PTO design has remained largely unchanged for over 75 years. However, modern industrial engine applications impose significantly higher performance demands,” said Jeremy Bodine, Applications Engineer at WPT Power. “The Pilotless™ Mechanical PTO was engineered to meet those demands with a more robust, load-tolerant design that aligns with today’s operating environments.”
