There’s never a good time for equipment failure, and that was certainly the case for this Wyoming customer. A failed main bearing in a competitor’s mechanical power take-off brought their grinder to a halt. To make matters worse, the ID plate was mislabeled, listing incorrect clutch specifications, which added to the frustration during an already costly and unexpected downtime.
TIMCO and WPT’s Application Engineer had worked together with the customer in a previous installation with great success. When their second unit became inoperable, they were called to determine the most suitable replacement needed. TIMCO reviewed the customer specifications and determined that the best-suited product for this application would be a WTD-11-13F, which included an increased sideload capacity. With some custom modifications, a high-quality, reliable WPT unit became more affordable and less mechanically complicated than the former competitor’s product.
