Best Hydroseeding Power Take-Off

Hydroseeding Power Take-off

What is Hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding has been around since the 1950s and is a method of controlling soil erosion by planting grass. Hydroseeding machines include a mixing tank with paddles and a pump to pump the slurry mixture onto a prepared surface. The slurry mixture usually comprises ingredients such as grass seed, fertilizer, mulch, and water.

The machine that does the work is called a hydroseeder, and it typically comes in two main types: jet-agitated and mechanical-agitated. Mechanical agitation is the most common type of hydroseeder because it allows more power to mix the slurry in the tank. Mechanical agitation has two main functions: mixing the slurry liquid and pumping the fluid out. Powering those functions is a matter of turning the shafts of both the mixing paddles and the pump with adequate torque and speed.

A PTO with higher sideload capacity

The pump’s most essential function is pushing concentrated slurry mixtures through long application hoses. A diesel engine is required to efficiently discharge the thick slurry mixture at adequate distances in higher-volume applications. Manufacturers often turn to WPT Power for assistance in achieving the necessary speed and torque. The WPT Pilotless® Power Take-Off (PTO) is the number one choice for manufacturers looking to drive their hydroseeder pump at maximum capacity. Attached to the diesel engine, the WPT Pilotless® PTO turns a series of belts, or shafts, to power the slurry pump. The Pilotless® PTO has eliminated the pilot bearing, which allows for higher sideload capacity. Paired with a dual main bearing design, the WPT Pilotless® PTO is the only well-thought-out choice for manufacturers looking to get the most out of their hydroseeder.

WPT has the solution to fit your agriculture application, whether it’s a hydroseeder, wood chipper, or manure agitator. Contact your WPT Sales Rep or Application Engineer today for more information at 940-761-1971 or info@wptpower.com.
